Raw Seafoods launches direct-to-consumer delivery service

Fall River, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-based seafood distributor and processor Raw Seafoods is launching a dock-to-door delivery service.

The company’s new online brand, City Pier Seafood, offers more than 80 premium seafood options touted as sustainably-sourced. They include cut-to-order fresh and frozen fish, shellfish, appetizers, ready-to-eat seafood salads, bake-in-bag entrees, and a curated assortment of products from partnering brands.

City Pier Seafood is the first consumer offering from Raw Seafoods, a family-owned distributor and processor that services the restaurant and grocery industries.

“Having more than 20 years of harborside experience working with the most reputable and sustainably-sourced harvesters and fisheries in the world, City Pier has the relationships and know-how to guarantee freshness from the ocean to the kitchen,” Raw Seafoods said in a press release.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, many seafood distributors, suppliers, restaurants, and others have rolled out similar direct-to-consumer services.

Consumer behavior and online shopping for food has been evolving for years, according to City Pier Vice President of Marketing and eCommerce Joan Connor.

“People who haven’t experienced easy-access to a premium and broad assortment of fresh seafood are finding they too can savor what we coast-dwellers have enjoyed all our lives: the freshest, highest-quality, sustainably-sourced seafood in the world,” Connor said.

City Pier customers do not need to have a subscription, specific minimums, or pre-configured box limitations to place orders, according to Raw Seafoods.

“Customers can feel empowered to buy as much or as little of whatever they’d like, on their own terms,” Connor said.

City Pier also provides recipes, expert advice, and informative blog posts “to ensure customers always get the most from their meals,” Raw Seafoods said.

City Pier’s Bake-in-Bag Entrees feature marinated and seasoned salmon, cod, and shrimp. The site also offers bacon-wrapped scallops, bacon-wrapped shrimp, sea and bay scallops, cooked and grilled shrimp, wild and farmed salmon, and numerous other items.
