US home delivery seafood service Real Good Fish looks to nationwide expansion

Thanks to increased demand for home deliveries of seafood due to COVID-19, Real Good Fish, a subscription-based, direct-to-consumer sustainable seafood supplier, is looking to expand more of its services nationwide.

Based in Monterey, California, U.S.A., Real Good Fish offers weekly, biweekly, and monthly deliveries of more than 40 different species of fresh or frozen fish, as well as pick-ups at neighborhood locations. The supplier currently delivers anywhere nationwide for free.

“Our growth to date has been through word-of-mouth, events, and leveraging the networks of community pick-up locations,” Real Good Fish CEO and Founder Alan Lovewell said in a press release. “Fortunately, when COVID-19 hit, we were well-positioned and ready to meet the new demand.”

Real Good Fish quickly launched home delivery in early March and realized “massive growth” with no disruptions in its supply chain or fulfillment, the company said.

By the end of June, its customer base had doubled and revenue had tripled, compared to January and February.

To further its growth, Real Good Fish hired Rochester, New York-based Partners + Napier as its first full-service marketing communications agency.

“The time is right to invest in an agency partner that can help us capitalize on our momentum and lay the foundation for national expansion in 2021,” Lovewell said.

Lovewell said the new marketing effort will help it drive its effort to add neighborhood pick-up locations across the country.

“The food space is forever changed and DTC brands like Real Good Fish are leading the way,” Partners + Napier Chair and Founder Sharon Napier said. “We have found Alan and his team to be close-knit, purpose-driven and deeply invested in ocean health and sustainability issues beyond just selling a product, which we love and admire in a partner.”
