With scampi product sales on the rise, Young’s adds to its Chip Shop range

Noting the spike in its scampi product sales, Young’s Seafood has expanded its best-selling Chip Shop range with Young’s Chip Shop Scampi.

Young’s Scampi has realized sales of more than GBP 37 million (USD 52 million, EUR 43 million) across its full range for the first time this year, Young’s Marketing Manager Keely Wade said in a press release.

The demand in the U.K. for scampi has surged, as more than a million new shoppers added scampi to their grocery basket over the past year.

Young’s Scampi products include Gastro Wholetail and Jumbo Wholetail, as well as Young’s Scampi and Popcorn Scampi Bites.

In early June, Young’s rolled out a major “Masters of Scampi” campaign, which promotes the Grimsby, U.K.-based supplier’s scampi range, its history, and inspiration for “new ways to enjoy the nation’s favorite,” Young’s said in a press release.

The new British-made Chip Shop Scampi includes the signature Chip Shop crisp bubbly batter and “gives shoppers another opportunity to get that chippy tea experience from the comfort of their own home,” Young’s said.

“Investment into NPD at Young’s is a key priority for us as we continue to drive the market across chilled and frozen, and this latest launch is another great demonstration of our industry-leading innovation,” Wade said.

The new product is retailing for GBP 3.75 (USD 5.24, EUR 4.39) in Asda and is also available in Iceland stores.
