Icicle Seafood and Ocean Beauty Seafoods were awarded a United States government contract worth more than USD 9 million (EUR 7.95 million).
The United States Department of Agriculture bought USD 9.1 million (EUR 8 million) worth of canned pink salmon to be used for child nutrition and other related domestic food assistance programs this year and early next year.
Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.-based Icicle Seafood won the majority of the contract - USD 8.87 million (EUR 7.8 million) - while Ocean Beauty, also based in Seattle, will supply around USD 231,000 (EUR 204,000) worth.
The two suppliers will deliver 183,920 cans of pink salmon between 1 September, 2019, and 29 February, 2020.
