Leading plant-based seafood analog producers Sophie’s Kitchen, and Gathered Foods’ Good Catch brand recently launched several new products.
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada-based Billy Goat Brands’ Sophie’s Kitchen recently debuted a new line of plant-based analog products at the Plant Based World Expo in New York, New York. Sophie’s Kitchen also unveiled a new logo and packaging.
The new line, which will be available at retailers across North America this year, will include new plant-based frozen burgers. Flavors will include: Original Whitefish, Original Salmon, Mango Jalapeno Whitefish, Spicy Salmon, Miso Salmon, and Mediterranean Whitefish.
Billy Goat Brands holds up to a 45 percent interest in Sophie’s Kitchen and “is committed to the portfolio company’s vision of being the number one plant-based seafood brand,” the company said.
“The new plant-based line of Sophie’s Kitchen products is a great extension of the established brand. Miles and the Sophie’s Kitchen team continue to innovate in the plant-based food sector, by providing a continuous evolution of gluten-free, allergen-free, and plant-based solutions, especially with its new plant-based frozen fish burgers, taco filling and vegan sauces,” Billy Goat Brands Chairman and CEO Tony Harris said.
Meanwhile, Gathered Foods launched its new Plant-Based Salmon Burgers analog, available through a new partnership with United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI), North America's largest natural and organic grocery wholesale distributor.
“With 30 percent of seafood consumers purchasing salmon monthly, Good Catch was determined to create an innovative alternative for the most consumed fish in the U.S.,” Gathered Foods said in a press release. “With the addition of Plant-Based Salmon Burgers, Good Catch provides a new flavor profile for an even larger audience of vegans to flexitarians to enjoy.”
UNFI’s retail partners “will be crucial to the continued expansion of Good Catch's distribution footprint,” Gathered Foods said. Plus the Plant-Based Salmon Burgers can be purchased via Good Catch's growing ecommerce platform.
