– Bergen, Norway-based aquaculture data intelligence company Manolin has announced a major update to its Watershed Explorer platform which will allow fish farms to track, analyze, and compare data more efficiently.

“Our mission has always been to provide farms with the most powerful tools for decision-making," Manolin CTO John Costantino said. "This Watershed Explorer update introduces a new level of intelligence, enabling farms to not only track their current operations but also forecast future performance with remarkable accuracy. With these enhancements, we're pushing new boundaries of what's possible in aquaculture."

Manolin said its updated platform offers aquaculture operations advanced population-level data modeling, precise forecasting, and near real-time data to drive better outcomes for fish welfare. Previously, predictions made by the platform were based on data from individual cages, and now the new population tracing incorporates the entire history of the fish population. The updated platform’s population-level tracing ensures that all recorded data is accurately tied to each fish, offering more precise information and insights to fish farmers.

– Dutch feed additive manufacturer Bluejais has entered the aquaculture industry through a collaboration with Radakrishnan Balaraman, owner of Procon Biotek India, a long time business associate of the firm with over 30 years of experience in shrimp and fish aquaculture.

“We are very excited to collaborate with Balaraman and introduce these innovative solutions to the shrimp and fish aquaculture industry," Bluejais Co-Founder Buis Ebbinge said. "Our aim is to empower aquafeed millers and shrimp and fish farmers with the tools they need to achieve sustainable and profitable operations. Through continuous research and development, we are committed to driving positive change and fostering a more resilient aquaculture sector.”

The collaboration has led to two new in-feed concepts and one water treatment solution. The water treatment product the companies have developed is designed to tackle the challenges posed by algae growth in shrimp ponds, along with its adverse effects on shrimp growth and health.

– Switzerland-headquartered animal feed equipment company Bühler has launched an automatic bagging solution with Premier Tech that is engineered to work with an array of products, including animal and aquafeed pellets, aqua and feed mash, and free-flowing products.

The fully automatic bagging station handles up to 1,200 bags per hour, and accords to Bühler’s high food and human safety standards.

– Netherlands-based machine vision company RapiD Engineering has launched a new system designed to improve accuracy of quality control processes in the salmon and whitefish industry.

“At RapiD Engineering, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of AI technology to provide our clients with innovative solutions that elevate their business processes,” RapiD Engineering CEORiekelt Post said.  “With RapiD Vision, we are setting a new standard in Quality Control and automation. This product represents years of innovation and development with the processors, and we are confident that it will have a tremendous impact on efficiency and quality across the industry.”

Drawing on advancements in AI and 3D vision, image analysis, and cloud storage, RapiD Vision provides users with full insight into the quality of both purchased raw materials and processed products. These services can help firms make informed decisions about which suppliers are delivering the highest quality products by automating quality control and safety testing.
