Stein Kleppe is happy Seafood Expo Global now takes place in Barcelona.

Kleppe is the managing director of Nyborg, Norway-based Stord Process, a vendor of processing equipment. Kleppe told SeafoodSource that the company is doing a lot of business these days in Spain, part of why the company welcomed the shift of the long-running seafood show from Brussels, Belgium to Barcelona, Spain.

Stord Process sells its dryers, presses, cookers, and sifters around the globe, but its current focus is on supplying onboard fishmeal-processing equipment to new-build fishing vessels.

We do business in the U.S., Africa, Australia, New Zealand, South America, and Europe, but we're looking now at growing the E.U. market – obviously, that's why we're here,” Kleppe said during the expo, which ran from 25 to 27 April.

Stord Process’s differentiation in the market, Kleppe said, is dependability and energy efficiency. Sales have been solid, he said, since the disruption of the Covid pandemic has receded.

“Business has been okay. Last year was a good year. We're doing good – our customers are in good shape,” Kleppe said.
