The E.U. Fish Processors and Traders Association and the European Federation of National Organizations of Importers and Exporters of Fish (AIPCE-CEP) has rebranded as Seafood Europe | European Fish Processors and Traders Association.
The group, which dates to 1959, represents more than 3,900 businesses and 128,000 people across 15 national seafood associations from 11 states and countries.
Seafood Europe said in an 21 October LinkedIn post that the goal of the rebranding was to unify its organization’s voice, increase visibility, reflect its central position in Europe’s food system, and build on the AIPCE-CEP legacy.
Seafood Europe explained that the transition will take place over the next few months and will include a new digital website and email address, to which its old platforms and addresses will automatically redirect.
“Our role as a trusted partner from sea to fork, commitment to our members, and dedication to a sustainable and competitive European seafood sector continues,” the organization said. “We’re incredibly proud of our history and even more excited for the future!”
The organization recently joined a group of industry-leading fishing and aquaculture groups to encourage the European Commission to create an action plan for blue foods.
Seafood Europe Chair Guus Pastoor said that an action plan has to support responsible fisheries in the E.U. while also securing more open trade with international partners.
