Attendance numbers announced for 2016 Seafood Expo Global

More than 22,000 attendees from 143 countries attended the 24th edition of Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global from 26 to 28 April, 2016, in Brussels, Belgium.

Companies representing 80 countries exhibited the event, which covered 35,862 square meters of exhibit space, according to Diversified Communications, which operates the expo (Diversified Communications also owns SeafoodSource.com).

Diversified Communications Group Vice President Liz Plizga said the event was a success despite concerns following the terrorist attacks in Brussels on 22 March.

“Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global was tremendously successful this year in light of what happened in Brussels a few weeks prior to the exposition,” Plizga said. “As we anticipated in these circumstances, we saw some impact on the level of participation, though the event offered a safe environment bringing together serious buyers and suppliers from around the world to conduct business."

In total, 22,160 buyers and sellers attended the event, including 347 key buyers representing large purchasers including Sodexo, Metro, Ahold, Aldi, Lidl, Marks & Spencer, Alibaba, Intermarché, Delhaize and others.
