Australia gets abalone export approval

The local abalone fishery has received approval to export its product for another five years.

All three management zones, western zone, central zone and southern zone, received approval from the Australian government to continue to export until August 2018.

Fisheries Minister Gail Gago said the renewed approval safeguarded the supply of Australian premium seafood to international markets.

"This is important as we are aware that in many of our export countries, there is an increasing demand among consumers for clean and safe food production credentials," she said.
