Azerbaijan to set up fund to develop fisheries, aquaculture

Today, the Parliament of Azerbaijan has approved amendments to the law on fishery.

According to Eldar Ibrahimov, chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Agricultural Policy, lack of legislation conforming to the international standards prevents fishery from efficient development and hampers promotion of entrepreneurship in this sector.

“It’s well known that the fish resources of the Caspian Sea are used by five countries. Therefore, Azerbaijan should take appropriate measures and create a legislative framework conforming to the international standards and regulations to provide the efficiency of fishery and to promote entrepreneurship in this sector,” Ibrahimov said.
