Jeff Stern, the co-president of seafood wholesaling firm CenSea, has been honored by the Indonesian government for his contributions as an importer and distributor of Indonesian seafood in the U.S.

The Primaduta Award, one of the nation’s top honors, is awarded annually to a foreign company for its role in promoting Indonesian goods and strengthening cultural and economic ties.

"I share this honor with our incredible partners and suppliers in Indonesia, whose dedication to quality and sustainability makes our work possible. Bringing the exceptional quality seafood of Indonesia to American households is a privilege that we value deeply,” Stern on receiving the award.

Northbrook, Illinois, U.S.A.-based CenSea is one of the largest distributors of frozen seafood to the U.S., marketing an array of seafood from countries worldwide to restaurants, foodservice distributors, retailers, and manufacturers. The U.S. is Indonesia’s primary export market for seafood and purchased USD 889 million (EUR 848 million) in seafood and fish products from the country in the first half of 2024.

CenSea was acquired by Captain Fresh earlier this year. With the acquisition of CenSea, Captain Fresh now represents a multi-species family of vertically integrated brands.
