A fast-growing Chinese shrimp processor, Fujian Hai Hun Co., is hunting for suppliers of vannemei shrimp for its new line of processed products.

The company’s Xin Meng Xiang range will see the firm producing more breaded shrimp products as well as sushi-style ready to eat products for China’s domestic market.  Announcing its plan to participate the Shanghai seafood expo in August, the company said it hopes to buy more imported stock to service growing demand from increasingly sophisticated Chinese consumers.

Fujian Hai Hun and other market leaders like Guolian Aquatic Group are among an interesting mix of Chinese shrimp importers who will be on hand for the World Seafood Shanghai exhibition, taking place August 19 to 21. According to a list from event organizers, Ecuador’s shrimp sector will be represented at the Shanghai expo by Socieded Nacional de Galapagos, Omarsa SA and Ecuador Shrimp Universal Seafood International. Also set to attend the event is Expalsa Exportadora de Alimentos, along with Chinese online food retailer GFresh and Toronto-based CN Global Distribution, which ships seafood to China.
