Commercial fisherman named ASMI chair

For the first time in more than a decade, the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) has named a commercial fisherman as chairman.

Kevin Adams has more than 38 years of commercial fishing experience in Bristol Bay. He has an extensive background in seafood marketing and has served as an advocate for commercial fishermen throughout Alaska. Adams was originally appointed to the ASMI board of directors as the harvester representative in 2004.

Adams has served as the United Fishermen of Alaska (UFA) at-large board representative since 2011 and was recently elected to his second two-year term.

Adams replaces outgoing chairman Joe Bundrant of Trident Seafoods.

“I have known Kevin for decades. He is a strong leader, an effective advocate for Alaska’s fishing men and women, and a passionate crusader for Alaska-branded seafood,” said Bruce Wallace, ASMI board member and UFA president. “Whether he’s helping to develop new product forms, or showcasing Alaskan product on the world’s stage at the Brussels Seafood Show, Kevin will be tireless in his efforts to maintain Alaska’s position as the premier seafood producing region in the world.”
