Former Aker BioMarine CEO joins leading aquaculture technology group

The Board of Directors for Norway’s AKVA Group has named Hallvard Muri, a former Aker BioMarine executive, as the group’s new CEO.

Muri, who boasts more than 25 years of senior management experience for a number of industries including those surrounding the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, will assume his new position with AKVA on 1 January 2017. He replaces Trond Williksen, who made known his resignation from the group last month on 11 May.

"In Hallvard Muri, AKVA group ASA has secured the service of a new CEO with tremendous experience and a strong position in the fisheries and aquaculture industries. At the same time, I would like to express my sincere thanks to Trond Williksen for his contribution to AKVA's development since taking up his position in 2010. With the appointment of Hallvard Muri, we intend to continue the company's positive trend going forward," said Hans Kristian Mong, Chairman of the Board of AKVA group, in a prepared statement.

Most recently, Muri served as the CEO of Aker BioMarine AS, holding down the role for six years until he left the company in June 2015. Before taking over the CEO seat, Muri occupied various other senior management positions for Aker, from 2002 onwards.

A technology and service provider for the aquaculture industry, AKVA Group employs some 669 people worldwide, with offices in eight countries.
