Former Marel director joins Skaginn 3X as new head of marketing and sales

Jón Birgir Gunnarsson has been hired as head of marketing and sales for Iceland-based seafood processing and technology companies Skaginn and 3X.

Formerly managing director of Marel’s Fishing Industry Center and chief operating officer at Controlant ehf, a temperature monitoring technology firm, Gunnarsson will lead sales and marketing of both companies’ products and solutions. He will be based at Skaginn 3X’s office at the Seafood Cluster house in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Gunnarsson has an MBA, engineering and mechanical craftsmanship degrees from the University of Iceland.

Skaginn, based in Akranes, Iceland, recently purchased an 80 percent stake in Isafjord-based 3X Technology and has been involved in updating seafood processing facilities around the globe, including projects in the Faroe Islands, Mexico and Chile.
