Funding available for U.S. seafood exporters

Food Export-Northeast on Thursday announced the availability of 2010 cost-share assistance funding for seafood companies to promote their products to foreign markets.

The funding is available through Food Export-Northeast's Branded Program.

Food Export-Northeast, which manages U.S. Department of Agriculture Market Access program (MAP) funding for the region's seafood industry, is encouraging seafood companies that use the program to submit next year's marketing plans now. It is also urging seafood companies considering export development to become aware of the range of foreign market development opportunities and assistance programs available to them.

Through its Branded Program, Food Export-Northeast offers reimbursement for eligible costs associated with a company's efforts to promote their seafood products in foreign markets. Examples of eligible expenses are trade show participation (including travel), advertising, product demonstrations, sample shipping and product labeling and packaging.

Based in Philadelphia, Food Export-Northeast is a non-profit organization comprising 10 Northeast state agricultural promotion agencies that use federal, state and industry resources to help companies increase product sales overseas.
