German company continues growth with expansion of seafood business

The Stern-Wywiol Gruppe, a family-owned company based in Hamburg, Germany, which owns Hydrosol, a supplier of stabilizer systems for the food industry, has increased revenues by 12 percent with a report of record revenues in 2015.

The company, which includes Hydrosol, which supplies the seafood industry with stabilizer systems for cured fish products, cooked fish products, smoked salmon, salmon products and seafood as well as spoilage inhibitors, among its much larger stable of products, announced recorded revenue of EUR 444 million (USD 491 million) last year, including its 10 sisters divisions that compose the larger firm.

Based on those results, the company is planning to expand its production capacity, Hydrosol Managing Director Matthias Moser said in a press release. The company, based in Ahrensburg, Germany, plans to build a second production facility adjacent to its current headquarters, Moser said.

“Our production plant is one of the most modern of its kind in Europe, and our capacity as it stands is 30,000 tonnes of ingredients a year,” Moser said. “Our customers in over 50 countries expect the best, and in order to provide it to them with the highest level of innovation, flexibility and service, we are now investing in a second facility located in close proximity to the existing one.”

Moser said construction will begin soon and production will start during the coming year.
