Frozen seafood giant Gorton’s Seafood of Gloucester, Mass., on Wednesday announced that it is now a sponsor of the Celiac Disease Foundation (CDF).
The national nonprofit is dedicated to raising awareness of Celiac disease and building a supportive community for patients, families and healthcare professionals through education, information and support services.
By sponsoring CDF, Gorton’s will help bring attention to the disease, which often goes undiagnosed, in addition to offering a new mealtime solution to those avoiding gluten.
In August, Gorton’s announced that its line of grilled fish fillets are now gluten-fish, including salmon, tilapia, Alaska pollock and haddock. In addition, the company has added new gluten-free recipe ideas to its website.
“We know that living with gluten sensitivities can present some new challenges, and when you or a loved one is diagnosed it can be overwhelming,” said Zach Soolman, Gorton’s director of consumer marketing. “CDF is a wonderful resource for those who are on a medially-prescribed gluten-free diet, and we are happy to support their mission.”
