Havfisk names new CEO

Norwegian fishing company Havfisk has named Webjørn Barstad its new CEO, according to a statement from the company.

Barstad began his career in 1991 with the L.S. Larseen Eftf. fishing company in production/sales. He has also served as department head  in the Norwegian Fishing Vessel Owners Association and advisor in the Norwegian Fishermen’s Association. For the past four years, has has managed the operations in Strand Havfiske.

“Barstad has solid experience and an extensive network in the fishing industry,” said Frank O. Reite, chairman of Havfisk’s board of directors. “His main tasks will be to develop the leading trawler company in Norway together with employees, partners, the Board and owners.”

Barstad is expected to start as CEO on 1 January 2015, taking over from Eldar Farstad, the company’s CFO and interim CEO.

“I look forward to cooperate with a professional ownership, a competent administration and skilled and engaged crew on board the trawlers,” Barstad said.
