Higher Q2 whitefish harvest for Havfisk, shrimp landings down

Norwegian fishing company Havfisk ASA confirmed an increased harvest in the second-quarter of 2016, with cod, saithe and haddock volumes up compared to the corresponding period of last year.

Havfisk’s total catch increased by 3,255 metric tons (MT) year-on-year to 17,020 MT in Q2 2016, with the biggest rise in its haddock catch – up four-fold to 4,181 MT. There was, however, a drop of around one-third in its shrimp catch, which totaled 1,256 MT for the period.

For the remainder of the year, the company has 25,033 MT of quota remaining, comprising 15,973 MT of cod, 5,991 MT of saithe and 3,070 MT of haddock.

Oslo Stock Exchange-listed Havfisk operates 10 trawlers and has 29.6 cod trawler licenses. In 2015, it had a sales turnover in excess of NOK 1.1 billion (USD 129.4 million, EUR 117.2 million).

Its financial results for Q2 will be published on 15 July.
