IFFO elects Anne Mette Bæk president, Gonzalo de Romaña vice president
Anne Mette Bæk, the executive director of Marine Ingredients Denmark, has been elected the incoming president of IFFO, the Marine Ingredients Organization.
IFFO is the trade association representing the fishmeal and fish oil sector. Bæk’s term as president of the organization will begin 1 January, 2020 and last for two years.
In addition to heading up the Danish fishmeal and fish oil industry group, Bæk also serves as the leader of EU Fishmeal, the international association of the European fishmeal and fish oil producers. She has been a member of the IFFO Board of directors since 2014.
"I look very much forward to taking on this role for the coming two years,” Bæk said. “As the networking heart of the marine ingredients industry, IFFO is committed to championing the industry's best practices and being a driver for change worldwide. Fifty-two percent of all marine ingredients are already certified as being responsibly sourced. I am convinced that the whole seafood supply chain can benefit from shared knowledge and expertise to bring our industry even further in this direction.”
Gonzalo de Romaña, the CEO of Peruvian fishmeal and fish oil producer Tecnológica de Alimentos (TASA), and a member of the IFFO Board of Directors since 2018, was elected vice president.
“Collaboration with all stakeholders is vital for the long-term success of the industry,” he said in a press release. “IFFO acts as a platform representing the industry's contribution to achieve vital SDG goals pertaining to the protection of life below water, eradication of hunger and poverty and will continue to so.”
The annoucement of the election results was made at the 59th annual conference in Shanghai, China. IFFO announced at the end of the event that its 60th annual conference will take place in Lima, Peru from 19 to 21 October, 2020.
