Inaugural Seafood Barcelona starts today

The first Seafood Barcelona opened its doors today to a strong list of exhibitors and anticipated visitors from southern Europe and Maghreb markets.

More than 130 exhibitors from 27 countries are at the inaugural event, held at the Fira de Barcelona – Gran Vía. Special on-floor events include a Catalan Fish Culinary Demonstration, New Fish Bar, New Products Showcase and Key Buyer Lounge.

“Seafood Barcelona is poised for success,” said Liz Plizga, food group show director at Diversified Business Communications, the company that produces Seafood Barcelona in partnership with Alimentaria Exhibitions. “The event’s key buyer program, promotions and our organization’s seafood-industry expertise continue to help attract top sellers and high-volume buyers from Spain, Southern Europe and the Maghreb.”

Exhibiting suppliers are enthusiastic: Seafood Barcelona will be “a great showcase targeted at national and European buyers,” said Pablo Múgica of Krustagroup, a top Spanish supplier.

“We welcome the fact that an international organization such as Diversified Business Communications has selected Barcelona as a venue,” said Álex Duran of Alimentos Friorizados S.A.

Diversified, with headquarters in Portland, Maine, also produces SeafoodSource.com.
