Maine Coast traveling to Seafood Expo Global to promote lobster, expand international business

York, Maine-based seafood supplier Maine Coast is bound for Brussels, Belgium and Seafood Expo Global 2019, the company announced on 2 May.

The international lobster dealer has attended the expo, which will run from 7 to 9 May this year, “since the beginning,” CEO Tom Adams said in a press statement.

“If you want to be successful in the seafood business you must go where you can find new markets. A pro-active approach is what is needed now as we work to counter the impact of current trade policies and tariffs. Our business continues to grow because of our ‘go to the customer’ strategy,” he said.

Taking a proactive approach to developing and maintaining foreign partnerships is intrinsic to the way Maine Coast does business, Adams noted.

“Recently, we traveled to Taiwan and secured a new customer. That would not have happened had we waited for customers to come to us. These international visits are key to growing the business and investing in our strategic relationships. I look forward to spending quality time with our customers from all over the world in Brussels,” he added.

Maine Coast is a global distributor of North Atlantic live lobster, with operations in York, Maine and on the Boston Fish Pier. The company’s state-of-the-art facilities have a capacity for 180,000 pounds of live lobster, and collectively employ 45 people. It has received numerous awards in the past few years, including the 2015 U.S. Small Business Administration's Small Business Exporter of the Year for Maine, 2016 Mainebiz Fastest Growing Mid-Sized Company, and the 2017 Inc. 5000’s Fastest Growing Private Companies, as well as the 2018 Maine International Trade Center's Exporter of the Year.

Maine Coast will be exhibiting in Hall 6 at Stand #6-1227 at Seafood Expo Global.
