Norwegian salmon prices still on the rise

Norwegian salmon prices continue to trend upward, reaching NOK 40.81 per kilogram for fresh fish and NOK 43.51 per kilogram for frozen fish during the week of 14 to 20 February, Statistics Norway reported on Wednesday.

That’s the highest total so far this year and up the previous week from NOK 39.71 for fresh fish and NOK 43.16 for frozen fish. Salmon prices opened the year at NOK 38.43 for fresh fish and NOK 39.64 for frozen fish.

As far as volume, Norway exported 10,982 metric tons of fresh salmon and 870 metric tons of frozen salmon from 14 to 20 February, up 1.5 percent and 11.5 percent, respectively, from the previous week.

Norway’s salmon producers continue to post record financial results thanks to high salmon prices, including SalMar, Lerøy, Grieg and Cermaq.
