NZ King Salmon has no plans for GM salmon

New Zealand King Salmon is watching developments with genetically modified salmon in the United States but says it has no plans to use GM techniques.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration says in a report published last month that genetically modified salmon, designed in Canada, would not have a significant environmental impact.

Marlborough-based Green Party list MP Steffan Browning said that although New Zealand had no connection with the Canadian-designed fish, genetically modified salmon had been tested in New Zealand years ago.
