Alaska seafood processors saw a substantial rise in average wholesale prices for pink, chum and coho salmon roe prices in the first four months of 2013, a state Department of Revenue report confirms.
The most dramatic jump was the average price of USD 11.93 (EUR 9.04) a pound for 336,566 pounds of pink salmon roe, which had a total value of USD 4.01 million (EUR 3.04 million) up from average prices of USD 6.20 (EUR 4.70) a pound for 1,540,823 pounds of pink roe valued at USD 9.6 million (EUR 7.3 million) a year earlier.
Chum salmon roe garnered an average price of USD 20.03 (EUR 15.18) a pound for 222,831 pounds delivered, for a total value of USD 4.5 million (EUR 3.4 million) up from USD 15.44 (EUR 11.70) a pound for the same period a year ago for 277,486 pounds valued at USD 4.28 million (EUR 3.24 million).
