Sea Harvest Corp. of Cape Town, South Africa, on Thursday announced it named PanaPesca USA as the exclusive marketer and distributor its seafood products in the United States.
Beginning this month, PanaPesca will be the sole distributor of all Sea Harvest products in the United States, including the company's Cape Haddie-branded products. Cape Haddie products consist of Cape Capensis (Cape hake) fillets that are wild caught, deboned, deep-skinned and individually quick frozen at sea.
"Sea Harvest management is excited about the new opportunity with PanaPesca in the USA," said George Bexuidenhout, Sea Harvest managing director. "We believe they have the infrastructure and relationships to carry our brand forward in this important market."
Sea Harvest is a deep-sea trawler fishing company situated near the productive fishing grounds off the Benguela Current. The company was founded in 1964 and has been exporting to the United States since the early 1970s. South Africa's hake trawl fishery is certified sustainable by the Marine Stewardship Council, and all Cape Haddie products carry the MSC eco-label.
