The U.K.’s fisheries promotions body Seafish has appointed Elaine Hayes as chair of the company board. She will chair the board, which oversees the strategic direction of Seafish, for three years from 1 January 2013.
Seafish is a levy-funded industry body that was created under the Fisheries Act 1981. It has a statutory duty to promote the sustainability and efficiency of the sea fish industry as a whole.
Hayes replaces John Whitehead.
“We are delighted to welcome Elaine to the board at Seafish. This is an exciting time for the organization as we prepare to deliver our new corporate strategy and the key commitments that we have made to the industry,” said Paul Williams, Seafish CEO. “Elaine brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role. She will be building on the solid foundations established by John Whitehead to ensure that we continue to deliver lasting results for industry.”
