Seafood Expo Asia brought in more than 7,500 attendees to its 2018 edition, which took place 4 to 6 September in Wanchai, Hong Kong.
Produced by Diversified Communications for the ninth consecutive year, Seafood Expo Asia is designed to bring buyers and suppliers of seafood together to network and conduct business in the lucrative Hong Kong and Asia Pacific markets.
The expo featured 224 exhibiting companies from 34 countries, and attendees included seafood industry professionals, distributors, importers, and buyers from supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, catering companies, airliners, cruise liners, e-commerce, and seafood markets.
This year’s expo also included conference sessions covering the latest topics relevant to Asia’s seafood market, culinary demonstrations, and a business matchmaking program designed to connect exhibitors and buyers based on their selling and sourcing needs. More than 90 percent of participating exhibitors successfully matched and met with high-volume buyers, according to Seafood Expo Asia Event Director Iris Kwan.
“74 percent of visitors surveyed this year said they found new products or companies at the expo,” Kwan said in a press release.
Sumana Sripitak from Thailand’s Man A Frozen Foods Co. said the company benefitted from exhibiting at the expo.
“We participated in extra events at Seafood Expo Asia, like the Business Matchmaking Program,” Sripitak said. “On the first day, we met with a potential buyer who came back with more partners the next day. So, it was good.”
The 2018 event also featured a “Tasty Kitchen” seafood-tasting exhibit and the Young Chef Challenge, which was won by Tsz Yan Lui of Hong Kong Disneyland, who received USD 2,000 (EUR 1,760) for her victory.
The 10th edition of Seafood Expo Asia will take place 3 to 5 September, 2019, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai, Hong Kong.
