The world’s largest seafood trade event, Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global, returns to Barcelona, Spain next week bigger than ever before.

The 29th edition of the event, taking place from 25 to 27 April, 2023 at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Via exhibition venue, will welcome at least 847 new exhibitors and occupy 49,339 net square meters overall – a 24 percent increase in size over the 2022 expo. We are looking forward to connecting with those of you who can attend for three days of industry networking, product exploration, trend-spotting, and more.

The expo, which brings a boost estimated at more than EUR 150 million (USD 138 million) to the economy of Barcelona, will host more than 2,078 exhibiting companies from 87 countries and have 68 regional and country pavilions.

New exhibitors at this year’s expo include Atunes y Lomos, Blumar, Golden Fish Sarl, Grøntvedt Group, Metarex Spa, North Pacific Seafood Pte Ltd, Pereira Productos del Mar, Pickenpack Seafoods GmbH, Activa Food Tech SAU, Aquatiq AS, Lineage Logistics, and Van de Velde Packaging Group, to name a few. A comprehensive list of exhibitors can be viewed here: https://www.seafoodexpo.com/global/exhibitor-lists/

The 2023 event will include companies representing Austria, Barbados, Cyprus, Fiji, Gambia, Hong Kong, Hungary, Moldova, Myanmar, New Caledonia, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Seychelles, Solomon Islands, Suriname, and Switzerland, all of which were not represented at the 2022 edition of the expo. New country pavilions include Australia, Saudi Arabia, the Seychelles and Solomon Islands. Additionally, new regions of Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United States will have pavilions for the first time, and the Spanish region of Galicia is set to return to the expo after an absence.

China’s seafood industry will have a much larger presence at the show as well in 2023 in the wake of the country’s decision to end its zero-Covid protocol, which made international travel difficult for those traveling into and out of China. More than 200 Chinese exhibiting companies will occupy 2,144 square meters of space at the event. A full list of country and regional pavilions can be found here: https://www.seafoodexpo.com/global/country-regional-pavilions/

Seafood Processing Global 2023 will cover every aspect of seafood processing, including packaging materials and machinery, refrigeration and freezing equipment, primary processing systems, secondary processing systems, hygiene control, sanitation, and quality control services. Meanwhile, Seafood Expo Global will present a wide array of popular and creative seafood products, including fresh, frozen, canned, value-added, processed, and packaged innovations.

Joining the expansive roster of new and veteran exhibiting companies at Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global will be thousands of seafood professionals, including numerous buyers representing supermarkets, hypermarkets, restaurants, traders, importers, distributors, wholesalers, and the hospitality industry.

Along with the busy exhibit halls, the expo provides a number of other engaging industry opportunities. An expanded educational conference program, for instance, is on offer at the expo this year, providing a platform to discuss the seafood industry’s major challenges, areas of potential, and solutions. The program will include more than 20 informative sessions hosted by industry experts. This year, video recordings of the sessions are included in the conference registration. A full listing of the conference program can be found here: https://www.seafoodexpo.com/global/conference-program/

The prestigious Seafood Excellence Global awards competition is back in 2023, with 39 finalists from 16 countries competing for two grand prizes – Best Retail Product and the Best Hotel/Restaurant/Catering (HORECA) Product – as well as five special awards for innovation, convenience, health and nutrition, retail packaging, and seafood product line. The seafood products entered into the competition will be on display throughout the three-day event at the Seafood Excellence Global stand in the Galleria section of the expo, located between halls 4 and 5. The products are also on display on the Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global website. The winners will be announced on 25 April in CC5, room 5.1, from 18:15 until 20:00.
