Seafood Expo North America 2019 gets underway in Boston

It was a weekend of hard work for global seafood product suppliers and processing vendors, who arrived in Boston, Massachusetts in anticipation of this year’s Seafood Expo North American/Seafood Processing North America event, taking place from 17 to 19 March.

Considered to be the largest seafood event in North America, the expo saw 1,329 exhibitors from 49 countries in attendance at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center for opening day on Sunday, 17 March.

More than 256,690 net square feet of exhibit space is being occupied at SENA19, event organizer Diversified Communications said, with new exhibitor participation from the country of Latvia and an array of companies including: Intershell International Corp, Plymouth Rock Oyster Growers, John Nagle Co, Pangea Shellfish Company, Cape Seafoods Inc., North Atlantic Pacific Seafood, Red’s Best, Aquacultural Research Corp., Independent Brazil, Dutch Seafood Company/Foppen/Klaas Puul, Niceland Seafood, and Top Claw Lobster & Seafood Limited.

“It is energizing to see the convention center come alive with suppliers and innovators from around the world as they put their best products, preparations, and innovations on display for the North American market,” said Wynter Courmont, event director for Diversified Communications. “This year’s exhibitors represent every corner of the seafood industry, offering incredible variety to our attending seafood buyers, who range from restaurants to supermarkets, catering firms, seafood markets, hotels, airlines, cruise lines and more.”

The expo acts as an ideal setting for industry influencers to connect, in-person, on issues ranging from consumer trends and sustainability to best business practices and public policy considerations, whether they’re on the exhibit floor, at special events, or attending the event’s three-day conference program, Diversified said. [Editor’s note: Diversified Communications also owns and operates SeafoodSource.]

Event highlights include a keynote address delivered by renowned economist Dr. Lindsey Piegza; more than two-dozen in-depth conference sessions and three free sponsored presentations; an array of free live chef demonstrations; the 13th Annual Oyster Shucking Competition; and the Seafood Excellence Awards, where two companies will be honored for Best New Retail Product and Best New Foodservice Product.
