Jane Lovell has been named the first chief executive officer of Seafood Industry Australia (SIA), the national body that represents the wild catch, aquaculture, and post-harvest sectors.
SIA Chairwoman Veronica Papacosta said that Lovell’s strong seafood industry connections, her experience working in the fisheries portfolio of the federal government and her track record of having previously established TQA Australia as the pre-eminent not-for-profit for food safety and quality assurance equip her well for the new role.
“SIA was created to provide the Australian seafood industry with a united voice that is firmly committed to removing obstacles to the sustainable growth of our industry,” Papacosta said. “In Jane, we believe we have found an energetic and capable CEO to promote, protect and develop our industry on the national and international level.”
Lovell said she was honored to be taking on the position at such a critical stage in the development of SIA.
“I am passionate about working with our members to develop a united voice and to ensure that the Australian seafood industry is acknowledged for its incredible quality and value,” she said.
