Southstream, Thorjborn sign deal

Southstream Seafoods of Warwick, R.I., on Tuesday announced that it signed a deal with Thorjborn Ltd. to be the Icelandic company’s primary U.S. importer of its frozen-at-sea cod, haddock and pollock fillets.

Thorjborn, which markets its products under the Thorfish brand, produced 50.2 million pounds of seafood last year. The company exports its products to Spain, Italy, Portugal, Britain, Japan and the United States and is certified to use the Icelandic Responsible Fisheries Label.

In addition to Rhode Island, Southstream has offices in Florida and Illinois and distribution centers in Seattle, Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Boston and Miami. Its customers include broadline and independent foodservice distributors, chain and independent restaurants, supermarkets, casinos  and wholesale grocers and processors.
