Deputies with the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office in Seguin, Texas, U.S.A., were able to recover a stolen cargo shipment of snow crab valued at USD 250,000 (EUR 293,290).

According to the Seguin Gazette, the owner of the crab shipment was tracking its progress and decided to contact local law enforcement for help.

“Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Deputies recently received information regarding a stolen cargo shipment valued at over USD 250,000 being transported in a truck tractor and semi-trailer in our area,” the sheriff’s office stated in a 25 April social media post. “Deputies quickly located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 8800 block of IH-10 West. Following a thorough investigation, the stolen cargo was positively identified and successfully recovered.”

The sheriff's office stated that members of its Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify the owners of the cargo to facilitate its return.

Two suspects were arrested and taken into custody, where they were booked with first-degree felony charges.

In a separate incident in April, a New York man was indicted for stealing over 33,000 pounds of snow crab worth USD 325,000 (EUR 277,439) among other goods. The individual was arrested in February and later indicted for interstate transportation of stolen goods as well as conspiracy to commit that offense.
