As many major farmed shrimp generators in Asia and around the globe continue to recover from disease and drought, new countries are finding more prominent footholds in the market. Indonesia, for one, is making a name for itself among farmed shrimp traders.

“Most of the traders we have talked to have loaded a lot more shrimp coming out of Indonesia,” Gorjan Nikolik, associate director of animal protein with Rabobank International, told SeafoodSource.

“It has continued to grow – not as much as India in the last two years, but India is beginning to slow down and Indonesia has continued to increase its supply of shrimp in the past few months," Nikolik said.
