Uniq unloads German, Polish divisions

Uniq announced on Thursday that it agreed to sell its German and Polish divisions to IFR Capital for GBP 25.7 million (USD 42.4 million, EUR 28.5 million) in cash.

The sale includes specialty fish producer Nadler in Germany and chilled herring producer Lisner in Poland, as well as salad producer and foodservice operator PHF in Germany.

The sale’s net proceeds will allow Uniq to eliminate its net debt of GBP 2.5 million (USD 4.1 million, EUR 2.8 million).

In June, Uniq unloaded its French division, Marie, to France’s Groupe LDC for GBP 65.5 million (USD 108 million, EUR 73 million), as it refocuses on its core U.K. operations. In March, the company sold fresh and smoked salmon producer Pinneys of Scotland to Foodvest for GBP 1 million (USD 1.7 million, EUR 1.1 million).

Uniq produces refrigerated and frozen convenience foods, including seafood, and lists Marks & Spencer among its customers.
