Vietnam plans seafood hub in Mekong Delta

Fishery is a key business sector of Mekong Delta; however, regional aquaculture and wild catch activities in the region have not reached its potentials.

On 20 December 2013, Vietnam Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) held a conference on promoting investment and the development of the fishery sector in Mekong Delta in cooperation with the Southwestern region’s Direction Board and Kien Giang People’s Committee.

Therefore, it is necessary to reorganize the fishery sector develop the fish production chain towards a higher value and diversification of seafood products. The links between localities in the production chain of different seafood branches must also be tightened.
