Austin, Texas, U.S.A.-headquartered Whole Foods has announced the winners of its 2024 Supplier All-Star Awards, and two seafood companies, Brooklyn, New York, U.S.A.-based Acme Smoked Fish and E&E Foods, a subsidiary of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada-headquartered Canfisco Group, made the list.
Whole Foods Market Senior Vice President of Merchandising for Perishables Wesley Rose told SeafoodSource that “our Supplier All-Star Awards recognize brands who go above and beyond in delivering quality, innovation, and shared values; this year’s seafood honorees truly embody those traits.”
Rose said that New York’s Whole Foods Markets have been selling Acme’s products since 2005 and that the company became a national supplier in 2019. He praised Acme’s “dedication to crafting premium smoked seafood products, combined with their consistent collaboration and reliability,” calling the brand a “cornerstone” of Whole Foods’ seafood program.
Rose noted that Acme had “brought innovation to the category with new product development including Sesame Crusted Smoked Ahi Tuna and supported the new launches with significant promotional and social campaigns.”
Rose said that E&E, which supplies and processes finfish from Alaska and the North Pacific, “is a longtime supplier we've proudly worked with for 20 years.
"This year, they played a critically important role in ensuring a steady supply of sockeye salmon, helping Whole Foods Market maintain best-in-market in-stock positions throughout the 2024 season,” he said. "Their commitment to sustainable wild-caught fisheries and their ability to meet high demand without compromising on quality has made them an invaluable part of our supply chain."
