World’s largest prawn cocktail?

The Shellfish Association of Great Britain (SAGB) on Friday announced it constructed a prawn cocktail consisting of 50 kilograms of prawns in a 1.5-meter-tall champagne glass.

The cocktail is an attempt at the world record and was used as the centerpiece of a buffet for 350 guests at Fishmonger’s Hall who attended the Doggett’s Day Coat & Badge Race, the world’s oldest rowing race, which takes place annually on the Thames River in London.

SAGB is awaiting official recognition from Guinness World Records.

The group also used the opportunity to promote the healthful benefits of shellfish, including heart-protective omega-3 fatty acids.

Royal Greenland supplied the prawns used for the cocktail.
