Captain D’s offers affordable lobster rolls for Lent

Captain D’s is offering two new affordable sandwiches – North Atlantic Lobster Rolls and the Giant Fish Sandwich – in the United States for the Lenten season.

The Nashville, Tennessee-based operator of more than 530 restaurants rolled out the two new items on 11 February, and will offer them until 28 April.

Two North Atlantic Lobster Rolls are available for US 3.99 (EUR 3.54), as is the new Giant Fish Sandwich, made with batter-dipped Alaska pollock. Guests can choose to order the sandwiches individually or as a combo, which includes a classic side and drink.

“Our pollock is wild caught, whole fillet and batter-dipped. You don’t find that quality or price point in the market with other fish sandwiches that are offered,” Bindi Menon, vice president of national marketing for Captain D’s, told SeafoodSource. “Throughout our 50-year history, we've prided ourselves on offering high-quality seafood at an affordable price, and this promo is no exception.”

While milllenials are known for seeking high quality seafood in convenient formats, “all demographic groups have a higher interest in incorporating seafood into their diet - especially millennials,” Menon said.

Captain D’s also wanted to bring portable food to consumers who are increasingly eating out more, Menon added.

Last year during Lent, Captain D’s offered flounder as a “center of the plate” item, while this year’s promotion “is more focused on portable, on-the-go-friendly options,” Menon said. “However, for guests that prefer traditional plated seafood meals, we're also offering our signature Batter Dipped Fish, Butterfly Shrimp, and Stuffed Crab with choice of two classic sides and Captain D's famous hush puppies.”
