Trident’s pollock noodle marketing efforts to reach more restaurants, club stores

Trident will expand demos of its Alaska pollock Protein Noodles in additional Costco stores and increase marketing to foodservice operators, thanks to additional funding from the Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP).

In April, GAPP awarded USD 1 million (EUR 889,000) to 12 North American seafood suppliers – including Trident – to market their pollock products as part of its North American Partnership Program.

“We are honored to receive additional support from GAPP in their most recent round of partnership awards,” John Salle, senior vice president of marketing & innovation, told SeafoodSource.

The funding will allow Trident to perform an additional demo in Costco stores in the San Francisco Bay area in California and in the Northeast U.S., from Virginia to Connecticut. The stores already carry the Protein Noodles, Salle said.

“We have found demos to be extremely effective in introducing this item to consumers,” he said. “The GAPP award helps us stretch our marketing dollar and its reach much further.”

“It’s exciting that the Protein Noodles have been well received and that we can once again partner with Trident to introduce even more consumers to this amazing product,” said Craig Morris, CEO of GAPP, in a statement. “I can’t wait for folks in San Francisco and on the East Coast to get to experience the versatility, healthfulness and deliciousness of these Protein Noodles and start to incorporate them into their diets.”

GAPP also provided marketing dollars to Trident during its first round of North American Partnership Program funding, so Trident could demo the product for consumers in Los Angeles, California, and San Diego, California.

“We initially launched our protein noodles in January in select club locations. Following this test market, we decided to expand the launch into foodservice, highlighted at Seafood Expo North America in March,” Salle said.

Now, Trident’s sales team and broker network are “working diligently” to introduce the noodles – under the 10g brand – to foodservice operators across the U.S. and Canada, according to Salle.

“We are currently running an operator promotion: try it, get it free. They can find more details here: https://www.tridentseafoods.com/Food-Service/Promotions," he said.

Protein Noodles will also debut at the National Restaurant Show in Chicago, Illinois, taking place from 18 to 21 May. Trident will receive the Food and Beverage Innovation award for the Protein Noodles at the show.
