Young’s lands Prêt a Manger contract

Young’s Seafood has won a contract to supply Prêt a Manger, which operates 530 restaurants globally, with salmon.

While Young’s simply referred to its new foodservice contract to supply “a leading, international sandwich and salad chain with salmon,” a source close to the company confirmed to SeafoodSource the deal is with Prêt a Manger.

While Young’s already supplies two lines to the restaurant chain, it will now supply five lines for Prêt a Manger: salmon for salmon sandwiches, baguettes, and protein pots, in addition to a new salad offering and seasonal special baguette.

“Increasing our foodservice presence is a key pillar of our strategic growth plan and our continued success in this market demonstrates the quality and innovation of our supply,” Young’s CEO Bill Showalter said in a statement.

Young’s foodservice division also hired Roger Sudlow as business development manager.

“Roger will be responsible for developing Young’s business in the Pub, Restaurant, Fast Food and Casual Dining sectors – a market sector that continues to offer huge opportunities for Young’s,” the supplier said.

Young’s also recently said it expanded United States distribution of its frozen products in 1,300 Safeway Northern California and Jewel-Osco stores, operated by Albertsons Safeway.
