While sales volumes for the Christmas season so far were more or less equal compared to the same period in 2017, importers have not placed as many orders as usual as they were still selling old stocks and simultaneously did not want to end up in the same situation as last year, with cold stores that were overfull and the resulting financial problems.
This said, it may be that sales orders for Easter 2019, one of southern Europe’s strongest demand periods, turn out to be higher than 2018.
