Description:

Financing transformation is different from traditional investment. It is notoriously challenging because it requires investment in three sequential steps that are each very different in terms of goals, success measures, time horizons, and activities. Issues of financing transformation in seafood to support sustainability will be looked at through the lens described by lead author Steve Waddell in a recent article in Stanford Social Innovation Review:  Systems Change Isn’t One Thing. Financing Should Reflect That. The event will focus on financing transformation in artisanal seafood production in both Southern and Northern settings.  Although there are differences in these settings, the distinctive financing challenges for transformation are shared for financing strategies, tools, and financiers' own development.

Speakers: Mike Conathan, Managing Director, Upwell Solutions; Peter Battisti, Executive Director, Future of Fish; Steve Waddell, Lead, Bounce Beyond
