Finalists announced in Seafood Excellence Global competition

The finalists have been announced for the new Seafood Excellence Global awards, a new seafood product competition centered around the Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global in Brussels, Belgium, 26 to 28 April, 2016.

This year’s 42 finalists represent 15 countries and will vie for two grand prizes – given for best retail product and best hotel/restaurant/catering (HORECA) product – and five special awards for innovation, convenience, health and nutrition, retail packaging and seafood product line. The winners will be announced at a special reception on Tuesday, 26 April in Auditorium 2000 in the Brussels Expo from 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m. The reception is open to all exhibitors and visitors at the expo.

Of the finalists, 12 are in competition for the best HORECA product. They are:

  • Seafood Umami Pearls from Keohanes/Atlantic Seafood Company Ireland Ltd. – Ireland
  • Gold Special Oysters Ostra Regal from La Famille Boutrais – France
  • Salmon Timbales from Marine Harvest – France
  • Fresh Native Hebridean Farmed Atlantic Salmon from The Scottish Salmon Company – United Kingdom
  • Salmo’Norm from Vichiunai Europe N.V. – Belgium
  • Herring Drops from Vichiunai Europe N.V. – Belgium
  • Petibo – Petite Pangasius and Salmon Roulade from Vihn Hoan Corporation – Vietnam

The finalists were chosen from more than 70 applications. Before the show, each entry will be sampled by a panel of judges, who will evaluate the products based the categories of innovation, convenience, health and nutrition, retail packaging and seafood product line. The awards will be presented by Diversified Communications, which produces the expo.

The finalists’ products will be showcased at the Seafood Excellence Global stand P-4619-4635 in the patio during throughout the exposition.
