NFI conference promises market news and insights

As we continue to keep our finger on the pulse of the seafood industry on SeafoodSource, we are always trying to help answer that one key question from buyers and suppliers: What's going to happen to the markets in the coming months and years?

Trying to formulate an exact answer is as complex and sometimes trial-and-error as predicting the weather, but next week's Global Seafood Market Conference in Miami, presented by the National Fisheries Institute, is a place to get some straight answers.

The conference is well on its way to establishing a reputation for providing a good snapshot of where things are right now and a preview of what's to come for major seafood species.

We'll be in Miami next week to provide full coverage of the event, bringing you the latest trends, promises and potential pitfalls of the coming year, according to the conference's collection of industry leaders and experts. I'll be serving as an analyst on one panel, covering value shellfish. Richard Stavis of Stavis Seafoods will be hosting the panel, which will cover crawfish, clams, mussels, shucked oysters and snow crab, so if you're a buyer looking to see where your stock is coming from, or a supplier looking to check out the competition, you'll want to hear what these experts have to say.

Other panels are promising similar insights into a whole range of hot seafood topics this year. To learn more, visit the conference website and be sure to check out SeafoodSource next week to get a glimpse into the year ahead for the market.
