Preferred Freezer Services is building its first overseas facilities in China and Vietnam, the company announced Monday.
The first site is in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City and will add 8 million cubic feet to the nearly 170 million cubic feet of storage space in Preferred's portfolio. The site is the first of five to seven cold-storage warehouses planned in the country, which are being built by Preferred's holding company in Vietnam, Antara. The Ho Chi Minh City construction began in January.
The China location will be built in Shanghai and construction will begin in September. The 14-million-cubic-foot building will be in the Lingang Industrial Area near the Yangshan Deep-Water Port and the 17-mile long East Sea Bridge.
Preferred, based in Newark, N.J., operates 23 warehouses throughout the United States, including New York, New Jersey, California, Massachusetts, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Texas and Georgia.
