– Puerto Varas, Chile-based aquaculture technology company Ace Aquatec Chile recently hired Sebastián Uribe as digital operations lead to help scale digital operations with new technology across Latin America.
“I’m excited to join Ace Aquatec at a time when digital technology is playing an increasingly important role in how the aquaculture industry improves efficiency, performance and decision-making," Uribe said in a company release. "Having worked across both farm operations and technology projects, I understand the importance of solutions that work in real production environments and deliver tangible value for producers. I’m looking forward to bringing that experience to Ace Aquatec, scaling our digital capabilities and supporting customers as we grow across Latin America.”
He has just over 18 years of experience in the aquaculture sector, starting with his role as a technician in aquaculture production, and then progressing to industrial engineer. According to Ace Aquatec, he's worked in production centers, production management, feeding and nutrition, and applied technologies. His most recent role was at Multi-X as head of bio-estimation and operational optimization. He also worked as a site manager there, overseeing Atlantic salmon farm operations in both Los Lagos and Aysén, Chile.

– Oslo, Norway-based Mitsubishi-owned salmon-farming company Cermaq appointed a new chief financial officer (CFO), chief operating officer (COO), and chief technology officer (CTO) following the integration of operations from Grieg Seafood.
Silvia Segnini has been hired as the new CFO; Snorre Jonassen is the new COO; and Bendik Fyhn Tejersen is the new CTO.
Segnini joined Cermaq in 2007, working on treasury, tax, accounting, insurance, mergers and acquisitions, and post-merger integration.
“Silvia knows this company inside and out, and she has played a significant role in building the finance function we have today,” Cermaq CEO Steven Rafferty said.
Jonassen's role as COO is new, aimed at strengthening operational focuses at the Group level, Cermaq said in a release. Jonassen most recently worked as Cermaq's integration director and also held senior management positions at Cermaq Norway. He will be in charge of instituting best practices across all regions and operating processes for the Group's strategy and priorities, Cermaq said, while also overseeing fish health, fish welfare, fish feed, and communication.
Rafferty added that as technology develops, innovation in landbased, sea water, and sustainability will all be combined under one team, who also oversees digitilization and artificial intelligence (AI). Tejersen will lead this team, and will report directly to the CEO. His role will not be under the Group.
“These changes will strengthen the Group office as a resource center for the operating companies and make the Global Management Team more effective in pursuing our growth targets and strategy objectives,” Rafferty said.
Grant Cumming will lead integration as the Canada integration director.
