Akva, Sealand sign salmon-recirculation deal

Akva Group on Thursday announced that it reached a NOK 32 million (USD 5.6 million, EUR 3.9 million) agreement with Sealand Aquaculture to build a salmon recirculation hatchery in Chile’s Region X.

This will be the second recirculation system that Sealand has constructed for the Norwegian aquaculture technology company. The first came last year.

The new salmon recirculation hatchery will be able to produce 6 million smolts annually in five cycles of 1.2 million smolts. The system will use both freshwater and saltwater sources to create an optimal fish production environment from egg to smolt in compliance with bio-security standards.
